Conquering Your Contenders

Once, you’ve prepared yourself with whatever power is possible and whatever implements of war you can muster to overawe your enemy as much as you can [Al-Quran Sura 8: Verse 60], there are three other keys to conquering your contenders viz. conviction, perseverance and intelligence. First of all, you must have a firm belief and strong conviction (i.e. Eemaan) in the values you stand for, without any shred of doubt in their veracity. Secondly, you should maintain your determination, resolve, steadfastness and perseverance (i.e. Sabr) while adhering to your esteemed values and the Divine Guidance. Thirdly, you must outwit your rival in intelligence and expertise. Equipped with this essential arsenal, you are ready to conquer any army even with ten times of your own size [Al-Quran Sura 8: Verse 65]. And if you do have solid determination and unstinting perseverance (i.e. Sabr), you can still be able to defeat an army double in your size, despite some weaknesses in the other areas [Al-Quran Sura 8: Verse 66]. But if you show laxity and lack of discipline by bickering among yourselves and disobeying your commander, then even a victory well within your reach may be turned away far from your sight [Al-Quran Sura 3: Verse 152].
