Golden Principle of the Islamic Foreign Policy

Golden Principle of the Islamic Foreign Policy

This is the world of interdependence and mutual cooperation, collaboration, coalition, synergism and teamwork. However, an Islamic State needs to evaluate its options in such cases on the touchstones of morality and legality. A golden principle of the Islamic foreign policy is that the Islamic State should help and support other nations in such affairs which are morally upright, noble, honourable, ethical, legitimate and lawful. It should never cooperate in cases of crime, corruption, crookedness, fraud, deceit, aggression, immorality, illegality or anything vicious or wicked.

 وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ

And cooperate with one another in righteous and lawful deeds and do not cooperate with one another in immoral and illegal acts.

[Al-Quran Surah 5: Verse 2]

لَا تَتَنَاجَوْا بِالْإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ

Do not confer or conspire with one another to do anything immoral or illegal.

[Al-Quran Surah 58: Verse 9]
