What Allah has Forbidden?

Following is a list of some of the things that Allah has forbidden in the Quran.

  1. Do not spread corruption, disorder or mischief in the land [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 11]
  2. Do not act wickedly in the land spreading corruption, disorder or mischief [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 60].
  3. Do not set-up Allah’s rivals or compeers [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 22].
  4. Do not confound the truth with falsehood, nor knowingly hide the truth [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 42].
  5. Do not follow the Devil’s footsteps [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 168]
  6. Do not eat one another’s wealth or property by unfair or unlawful means [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 188].
  7. Do not commit aggression or transgression [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 190].
  8. Do not say about those who are slain in the cause of Allah that they are dead. (They are not dead.) They are rather alive but you have no perception (of their life) [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 154].
  9. Do not cast yourself into ruin or destruction with your own hands [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 195].
  10. Do not take Allah’s Signs, Laws or Commandments in levity or jest [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 231].
  11. Do not forget to be gracious and generous to one another [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 237].
  12. Do not ruin your charitable deeds by reminders of generosity or hurting (the feelings of the recipient) [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 264].
  13. Do not intend to spend rubbish (in charity, which you yourself would be reluctant to accept) [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 267].
  14. Do not conceal the evidence [Al-Quran Surah 2: Verse 283].
  15. Do not be disunited (by splitting up into sects) [Al-Quran Surah 3: Verse 103].
  16. Do not be like those who became disunited and fell into disagreements even after receiving clear evidences of the Truth; it is they for whom is the mighty punishment [Al-Quran Surah 3: Verse 105].
  17. Do not be of those who associate partners with Allah; (i.e.) of those who caused divisions in their Deen and became divided into sects, every sect rejoicing in what it has [Al-Quran Surah 30: Verse 31-32].
  18. Do not be wasteful [Al-Quran Surah 7: Verse 31].
  19. Do not eat usury or interest compounding over and over [Al-Quran Surah 3: Verse 130].
  20. Do not squander your wealth wastefully [Al-Quran Surah 17: Verse 26].
  21. Do not spy into (the personal secrets of) one another [Al-Quran Surah 49: Verse 12].
  22. Do not backbite one another [Al-Quran Surah 49: Verse 12].
  23. Do not find faults in one another (for slander or defamation) [Al-Quran Surah 49: Verse 11].
  24. Do not call one another by insulting nicknames [Al-Quran Surah 49: Verse 11].
  25. Do not despair over any loss that occurs to you, nor arrogantly rejoice over that which He bestows upon you [Al-Quran Surah 57: Verse 23].
  26. Do not turn your face away from people in scorn, contempt or pride [Al-Quran Surah 31: Verse 18].
  27. Do not let your evil desires or emotions  swerve you away from equity & justice [Al-Quran Surah 4: Verse 135].
  28. Do not cooperate with one another in immoral and illegal acts [Al-Quran Surah 5: Verse 2].
  29. Do not let the hatred or enmity of a people deviate you from equity & justice [Al-Quran Surah 5: Verse 8].
  30. Do not confer or conspire with one another to do anything immoral or illegal [Al-Quran Surah 58: Verse 9].
  31. Do not do a favour (to others) just seeking to get more (in return) [Al-Quran Surah 74: Verse 6].
  32. Do not reduce things that are due to (other) people, through cheating or fraud [Al-Quran Surah 7: Verse 85; Surah 11: Verse 85].
  33. Do not consider unlawful those pure (and likeable) things which Allah has made lawful for you. However, do not commit excess [Al-Quran Surah 5: Verse 87].
  34. Do not revile those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they should spitefully revile Allah by lack of knowledge [Al-Quran Surah 6: Verse 108].
  35. Do not kill your children for fear of poverty [Al-Quran Surah 17: Verse 31].
  36. Do not kill anyone, the sanctity of which Allah has upheld (and has forbidden you to slay) except when necessitated for the establishment of justice [Al-Quran Surah 6: Verse 151; Surah 17: Verse 33].
  37. Do not be like those who forgot Allah, So that He made them forget their own selves [Al-Quran Surah 59: Verse 19].
  38. Do not be unfaithful to Allah and His Messenger, nor knowingly betray your trusts [Al-Quran Surah 8: Verse 27].
  39. Do not quarrel with one another, lest you lose courage and your strength wanes [Al-Quran Surah 8: Verse 46].
  40. Do not take your fathers and your brothers as your friends or allies if they love the Unbelief in preference to the Belief [Al-Quran Surah 9: Verse 23].
  41. Do not call upon any apart from Allah, those who have no power to benefit or hurt you [Al-Quran Surah 10: Verse 106].
  42. Do not call upon anyone else besides Allah [Al-Quran Surah 72: Verse 18].
  43. Do not obey the deniers or beliers (of Allah’s Message) [Al-Quran Surah 68: Verse 8].
  44. Do not obey any contemptible swearers [Al-Quran Surah 68: Verse 10].
  45. Do not follow the way of those who spread corruption, disorder or mischief [Al-Quran Surah 7: Verse 142].
  46. Do not obey the orders of the exorbitant [Al-Quran Surah 26: Verse 151].
  47. Do not follow the way of those who have no knowledge [Al-Quran Surah 10: Verse 89].
  48. Let not your wealth and children distract you from Allah’s remembrance [Al-Quran Surah 63: Verse 9].
  49. Do not fall short in the balance [Al-Quran Surah 55: Verse 9].
  50. Do not make any pretensions to being virtuous [Al-Quran Surah 53: Verse 32].
  51. Do not ascribe divinity to anyone besides Allah [Al-Quran Surah 51: Verse 51].
  52. Let not men mock at others who may be (in fact) better than themselves, nor let women mock at other women who may be (in fact) better than themselves [Al-Quran Surah 49: Verse 11].
  53. Do not be despair of Allah’s Beneficence [Al-Quran Surah 39: Verse 53].
  54. Do not neglect your share of the world [Al-Quran Surah 28: Verse 77].
  55. Let not the worldly-life beguile or delude you [Al-Quran Surah 31: Verse 33].
  56. Walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance [Al-Quran Surah 17: Verse 37; Surah 31: Verse 18].
  57. Do not be of those who cause loss (to others by cheating or fraud) [Al-Quran Surah 26: Verse 181].
  58. Do not verge upon any immodesty/ obscenity/lewdness, open or secret [Al-Quran Surah 6: Verse 151].
  59. Do not come close to adultery or fornication [Al-Quran Surah 17: Verse 32].
  60. Do not be like the woman who untwists her yarn after spinning it strong with hard labor [Al-Quran Surah 16: Verse 92].
  61. Do not break oaths after their confirmation [Al-Quran Surah 16: Verse 91].
  62. Do not coin similitudes for Allah [Al-Quran Surah 16: Verse 74].
